Dr. Catapano received her M.D. from Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and her Ph.D. in Neurobiology from Harvard Medical School. She completed psychiatry training at George Washington University and a fellowship in clinical research at NIMH. In her clinical practice, she specializes in mood disorders in women related to infertility, pregnancy, and the postpartum period.
Dr. Catapano currently serves as Program Director for the NIMH Clinical Fellowship Program. Dr. Catapano is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at George Washington University, where she is an award-winning teacher and clinical supervisor. She is a senior member of the National Task Force on Women’s Mental Health, a Board member of the DC Metro Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative, and the co-founder of the Five Trimesters clinic, a perinatal mental health care clinic at George Washington University. Dr. Catapano co-edited the first textbook in the field of perinatal psychiatry, the Textbook of Women’s Reproductive Mental Health, published by the American Psychiatric Association in 2021.
